Takaya, the lone wolf, became famous after living alone on Discovery Island for the past eight years before swimming to Victoria where he was relocated by Conservation Officers to Port Renfrew. I captured this photo of him in the San Juan Valley. Tragically, Takaya was shot and killed just two days later, likely making this the last image of him still alive. My thoughts go out to Takaya and all those who grew to love him dearly.
